Wilmington, Delaware, is the global home to the central nervous system (CNS) therapy area team. Together, this senior cross-functional creative team handles CNS projects and products.

AstraZeneca has a successful history of discovering innovative treatments for CNS diseases and disorders. This past work has resulted in some exciting opportunities in late-stage development and successful brand launches in recent years: SEROQUEL® (quetiapine fumarate) for psychosis, including schizophrenia, and ZOMIG® (zolmitriptan) for migraine pain. The aim of the R&D Wilmington group is to build on this platform in order to strengthen our portfolio through continued discovery, development, and external investment.

AstraZeneca's R&D center in Wilmington, Delaware, is in the heart of the beautiful and historic Delaware Valley. Our employees live in Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, and South Jersey. From Wilmington, it's an easy drive to Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore, or Washington, D.C., making for great day trips or weekend getaways. The Delaware Valley offers an excellent combination of quiet, rural scenery and urban conveniences and attractions. Among these attractions are the Liberty Bell, Valley Forge National Park, and Longwood Gardens. There are many museums and theaters in and around Wilmington and Philadelphia, as well as a variety of recreational activities to keep you occupied when you're away from the office.

The cost of living and educational opportunities in the Wilmington area are among the best in the nation. Our R&D center in Waltham, Massachusetts, is located just 10 miles from downtown Boston. This striking contemporary structure houses the latest in world-class pharmaceutical science, focusing on cancer and infectious disease areas. In addition, the Boston site is the home of AstraZeneca's North American Enabling Science & Technology Center—a powerful source of innovation for the company's world-wide R&D organization.

Comprising 260,000 square feet. in total, state-of-the-art laboratories and scientists’ offices flow seamlessly into one another, providing both visual and verbal contact with ongoing experiments and colleagues.

With slightly more than half a million people, Boston is just the right size for people who crave a cosmopolitan atmosphere within an easily manageable city. From the shopping, dining, and history of downtown to the understated elegance of Beacon Hill and the Back Bay, Boston is sure to please you.
