You've probably heard of NEXIUM® (esomeprazole magnesium), the most-prescribed proton pump inhibitor by gastroenterologists for the treatment of heartburn and other symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or CRESTOR® (rosuvastatin calcium), a cholesterol-lowering medication. These are just a few examples of the results of our innovative research and development process. AstraZeneca's community involvement extends heavily into the areas of health and health education. In the Delaware Valley, home of our US headquarters, we focus our volunteer efforts on health, education, civic/community events, and the arts. Many of our employees are active volunteers for the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Junior Achievement, and numerous other nonprofit organizations. Many also hold leadership positions within these organizations. We are also a strong supporter of the United Way, with hundreds of employees providing both financial and volunteer support to this cause.
