Charity begins at home

At AstraZeneca’s US headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, we maintain a positive high profile in the community. We support more than 130 local nonprofit organizations through a vibrant charitable giving program, partnerships and alliances, and a strong employee/retiree volunteer initiative called the AstraZeneca Ambassadors Program.

The support we provide falls into ten major areas:

• Specific diseases
• Health facilities
• Health programs—especially awareness and education, improving access to medications and adherence to treatment, and meeting the needs of underserved populations, such as the uninsured and the underinsured
• People with mental and physical disabilities—focusing on job skills, life skills, self-esteem
• Families, women, and children—building community health by working with families to support early childhood development and women’s health
• Seniors—improving health literacy and access to medications in this important and growing population; promoting wellness; helping seniors to retain their independence and make informed choices about their health care
• Science and math education—investing in the leaders of tomorrow
• Youth development—lifelong health, business and economics, early childhood literacy, tutoring and mentoring; helping children to grow up well and take their place in the community
• Community services and nonprofit organizations—supporting organizations with strong local chapters; diverse populations, capacity-building, health and the environment, and strengthening communities
• The arts and culture—A thriving and diverse arts community brings immeasurable value to society. We support those that: reach large numbers of people in the community, bring the arts to audiences who would not ordinarily be exposed to them, relate to senior citizens, focus on mental and physical health, have an educational focus.

We support these groups through charitable contributions and product donations, partnerships, and volunteerism.
