Some additional ways AstraZeneca supports local communities
Through our Corporate Community Alliances (CCA) group, AstraZeneca completes
its mission to support local communities in several other ways, including:
- Fundraising collaborations—each year, we lend financial and staff resources to a limited number of nonprofit organizations for major fundraising efforts.
- External collaborations—when appropriate, we seek opportunities to maximize our contributions by combining resources with other businesses and organizations in the area (e.g., the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce). These types of collaboration are especially encouraged in the education sector.
- Nonprofit organization capacity building—AstraZeneca believes that a community’s quality of life is enhanced by maintaining a robust and healthy nonprofit sector. Therefore, we contribute to programs that:
- Foster professional staff development
- Promote volunteer leadership
- Educate and encourage young people to pursue careers in the nonprofit sector
- In-kind donations— We coordinate the efforts of various AstraZeneca departments to donate items such as furniture, office supplies, and other equipment to nonprofit organizations and schools. In addition, CCA manages computer donations to local nonprofit senior centers and health care institutions.
- Bereavement gifts—upon the death of an active AstraZeneca employee, we make a contribution to the charity of the deceased’s choice.
- The recipient organization must be a registered, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. It may be chosen by the employee before his or her death or designated by the appropriate family member or friend.
Another important way AstraZeneca gives back is through a variety of patient assistance programs for those who need help.
