About AstraZeneca
AZ in the Community

Serving the communities where we live and work

As part of our mission, AstraZeneca is committed to improving health and quality of life in the communities where our employees work and live. In the US alone, we have offices in nine cities and employ more than 12,000 people. We’re not just an employer; we’re your neighbors and friends. We’re concerned about the same issues as you.

Over the years, we have learned that the most effective way to give back to our communities is through a combination of three types of efforts:

Some of our biggest successes have occurred when we have combined elements of all three efforts: partnering with an organization, contributing funds, and providing our employees with a chance to shine as volunteers in the group.

Serving communities in our headquarters region

Almost half of our US employees work at the company’s headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. As a result, AstraZeneca actively pursues community efforts in the areas surrounding our headquarters: the entire state of Delaware, as well as nearby counties in Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Visit our Corporate Community Alliances page to learn about the projects we fund in the Wilmington area.

Serving communities in other areas where we work

AstraZeneca research and development and manufacturing sites support nonprofit and community organizations in Delaware and Massachusetts. Our support also extends to nonprofit health groups in and around our six regional business centers, located in Dallas, Chicago, Tampa, Philadelphia, Boston, and Los Angeles.

*AstraZeneca defines charitable contributions as funds given to enhance the common good, with no commercial gain on the part of AstraZeneca. In order to receive this funding, organizations must be registered as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and designed to further the common good. Charitable contributions most often have a strong connection to health care and may be unrestricted or designated to support a specific project or program.
